How to make sound effects with AI

In Genie Studio, move the playhead (or set a loop) to the moment you want, then choose Add → Sound effect (1 credit). Pick a type — riser, uplifter, reverse cymbal, whoosh, impact, sub drop, downlifter, vinyl stop or crowd — or describe your own. Build-ups are placed so they end exactly on that downbeat; hits start on it. The effect arrives as a new track, and the credit is refunded if it fails.

Steps

  1. Find the moment

Put the playhead on the downbeat where the drop or the new section starts, or set a loop around it.

  2. Open Sound effect

Choose Add → Sound effect (riser, impact, whoosh…) · 1 cr.

  3. Pick the type

Build-ups (riser, uplifter, reverse cymbal, whoosh) end right on the downbeat they lead into. Hits (impact, sub drop, downlifter, vinyl stop, crowd) start on it.

  4. Or describe your own

Choose Describe your own and write it: “glass shattering”, “laser zap”, “thunder”, “door slam”. Add details to any preset type if you want.

  5. Place and blend

The effect lands as a new track at the right time. Lower it under the music, add reverb, or fade it so it supports the transition rather than covering it.

Where effects work best

  • Into a drop or chorus: riser, uplifter or reverse cymbal
  • On the drop: impact or sub drop
  • Out of a big section: downlifter
  • Breaks and endings: vinyl stop
  • Live feel: crowd

Common mistakes

  • Too many effects. One strong transition beats five weak ones.
  • Effects too loud. They should lift the moment, not mask the music.
  • Wrong spot. Put the playhead exactly on the downbeat before you generate.
