How to add instruments to a song with AI

In Genie Studio, set a loop over the bars that need a new part, then open Add → Session players. Choose the instrument (drums, bass, guitar, keys, choir and more), pick a style or Match my song, or describe the part yourself, and generate. The AI records the part over the loop region (or 8 bars from the playhead) and lines it up with your song as a new track. It costs 8 credits on Starter and above, is usually ready in 2–4 minutes and is refunded if it fails.

Steps

  1. Have something to play along to

A session player needs context: a beat, a vocal or chords. Open your song or project in Genie Studio.

  2. Choose where the part goes

Drag a loop region on the ruler over the bars you want. Without a loop, the part plays 8 bars from the playhead.

  3. Open Session players

Choose Add → Session players (8 credits) and pick the instrument.

  4. Pick a style, or describe it

Choose Match my song, pick a style, or switch to Custom and describe the part: genre, feel, how it is played. Inspire me suggests an idea.

  5. Generate and audition

The part arrives as a new track lined up with your song. Listen in context; if it is close but not right, use New take of this part from the track menu.

  6. Blend it into the mix

Balance its level, add EQ or reverb so it sits with the rest, and run Auto Mix if you added several parts.

Session players or MIDI instruments?

Session players (AI audio)A recorded-sounding performance; 8 credits; edit as audio
MIDI instrumentsFree built-in instruments; every note editable in the piano roll
Loop StarterDrums, bass, chords and melody as MIDI from a genre and mood; included on Starter and above

Common mistakes

  • No context in the project. The player needs a beat, vocal or chords to follow. Add one first.
  • A loop that is too long. Shorter regions are easier to judge and redo.
  • Stacking parts at full volume. Each new part needs space: lower it and EQ it to fit.

Questions

How much does a session player cost?

8 credits per part on Starter and above, refunded if it fails.

Which instruments are there?

Drums, bass, guitar, keys, choir and more, each with styles, plus a Custom mode where you describe the part.

Can I edit the notes?

Session players return audio. If you need editable notes, use a MIDI instrument or Loop Starter, or convert a clean part to MIDI.
