What is the Melody Genie MCP?

A Model Context Protocol server at https://melodygenie.app/api/mcp. Once added to an AI agent such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or Codex, the agent can browse Melody Genie writing styles, write original lyrics, score them with the Genie Score, generate complete songs with four music engines (Suno V5.5, Google Lyria 3 Pro, MiniMax Music 2.6, ACE-Step 1.5), retrieve the files and separate stems, all inside the user's own Melody Genie account.

Do I need an API key to use Melody Genie with Claude or ChatGPT?

Accepted Answer

No. You add the connector URL and sign in with your Melody Genie account through OAuth. There are no API keys to create or paste; access can be revoked from the agent's settings at any time.

Does generating music through an AI agent cost extra?

Accepted Answer

No. Tools spend the same credits as the Melody Genie app: scoring a lyric is free, writing a lyric is 3 credits (12 for Pro), a full song is 4 credits on Suno V5.5 (3 to 9 depending on the engine), stems are 4, 8 or 20. The free plan includes 14 credits a month.

Which AI agents can connect to Melody Genie?

Claude (claude.ai, desktop, Cowork and Claude Code), ChatGPT with custom connectors, Cursor, Codex, Perplexity and any client that supports the Model Context Protocol with OAuth 2.1.

Does Melody Genie copy real artists when an agent asks for a style?

Accepted Answer

No. Styles are profiles that describe how a style is built — vocabulary, rhyme, cadence, sound. Output is always original and is never presented as written or performed by a real person. The Genie Score measures craft and is never a hit or virality prediction.
