How to export stems to your DAW

Split the song into stems in Genie Studio (Voice + Music for 4 credits, Full multitrack for 20), then export: Stems ZIP gives one WAV per track, all starting at 0:00 and the same length, so they line up at bar 1 in any DAW; MIDI tracks export as a .mid file; and a .dawproject opens with tracks and clips in place in DAWs that support the open DAWproject format, such as Bitwig Studio, Studio One and Cubase. Exports need Starter or above.

Steps

  1. Open the song in Genie Studio

Open a song from your library (from any of the seven models) or upload audio you own or may use.

  2. Split it into stems

Choose Voice + Music (4 credits) for vocals and instrumental, or Full multitrack (20 credits) for separate drums, bass, vocals and other parts. Songs made with Suno can return up to twelve lanes. Each part opens on its own track.

  3. Edit what you need first (optional)

Cut, fade, add effects or record a new vocal. Each stem in the export keeps its own effects, level and pan.

  4. Export the stems ZIP

Open Export and choose the stems ZIP. Every file starts at 0:00 and has the same length, and a README notes the tempo and key. The master limiter is not applied to stems.

  5. Export MIDI or a .dawproject

If the project has MIDI parts, export them as a .mid file at the song’s tempo. If your DAW supports DAWproject, export a .dawproject to keep tracks and clips in place.

  6. Import at bar 1

In your DAW, set the project tempo from the README, then drag all WAV files in at the very start of the timeline. They line up because they share the same start and length.

About separated stems

A separated stem is not the original isolated studio recording. Listen for bleed between parts and reverb tails before you release, and expect the result to depend on the source mix.

Common mistakes

  • Dropping stems at different positions. Always place every file at the very start of the timeline.
  • Forgetting the tempo. Set the DAW tempo from the README before you add MIDI, or the notes drift.
  • Expecting perfect isolation. Separated stems can carry bleed. Check each one solo.

Questions

Can I export stems from any AI song?

Yes. Songs from all seven models in Melody Genie, and audio you upload, can be split into Voice + Music or Full multitrack in Genie Studio (Starter and above).

Does FL Studio open .dawproject files?

Not natively at the time of writing. Use the stems ZIP and the .mid file; they import into any DAW.

Are the stems WAV?

Yes. The stems ZIP contains one WAV per track, aligned to the same start and length.

Do effects stay on the stems?

Yes. Each stem is exported with its own effects, level and pan; only the master limiter is left off.
